My car had a major breakdown and I was persuaded by the dealer to tow it directly to them. After several days, I was not pleased with how the dealer was going to resolve my problem. I came across Southend Auto Care in my Facebook community page with many folks recommending them. I left a message on a Saturday when they were closed and Mark, the owner, called me on his day off and talked through what was going on. He gave me his recommendation and took the time to explain what and why he would repair the car in the manner he suggested. Right up front, it was clear that this was the type of person I wanted to deal with but my car was still at the dealer. I had already shopped a few other competitors and Southend was not the cheapest but they were not the most expensive. What I did like was they were making the suggestions to do the job right. The dealer wanted to replace my motor with a used one and make a mishmash of what they thought might still be good on my failed motor and the high mileage one they would source. Instead, Mark committed to sourcing a motor with low mileage and replace all the common wear items around the motor. He then told me that if I needed a loaner vehicle, he would take care of that. I was sure my insurance company would cover towing to Southend but Mark also offered to help with the towing if needed. In less than a week, Mark had my car back in running order, additional maintenance completed, and even gave a little bit of a discount from what we originally discussed. The car now runs like new again and we feel like it will run as long as we decide to keep it. I am not a complete idiot when it comes to automotives but I am also not a subject-matter expert. Mark made me feel I could ask for clarification on anything and I immediately felt he wanted to help me, regardless of whether I went to Southend. I must say, they earned our business in every sense of the expression and they now have a loyal customer who will recommend to anyone, looking for any size job. I'm so glad I came across the compliments for them in my community Facebook page! I feel like I must now pay it forward!
